Social Studies Club

Club Facilitator: Lois Scarlato

Mission:

The Ralph G. Reed Student Council acts as a student government. The students partake in activities to enhance their knowledge of the importance of civic responsibility. The concepts of good citizenship are fostered through activities which help to create a positive school climate.

The club runs an extremely successful Toys for Teens and Tots program. This program is school wide and encourages students, faculty and staff to participate by bringing in some type of gift. The gifts are then given to needy families in our building, to help brighten the Holiday Season.

Annually, the Student Council decorates in remembrance of September 11, 2001 and Veteran’s Day. Overall, The Council promotes the ideas that each student has a sense of nationalism, pride in themselves, their school, and their community. It helps the students to realize the fact that each of us are worthwhile individuals capable of making positive and valuable contributions to our school, the community and the world as a whole.

We usually meet Tuesday afternoons and other days when needed.
