The Central Islip School District officially began its 2026-27 school year on Tuesday, September 1. Every school building welcomed students back with open arms after a restful summer vacation, with staff and students excited to begin another successful school year together.
Reed Middle School opened its doors to its newest class of seventh graders on Wednesday, August 26, for orientation.
Superintendent of Schools Dr. Sharon A. Dungee recently met with students in Mr. Joseph Cornell's Full Year Technology Class. Mr. Cornell's students briefed Dr. Dungee on each of the projects they completed this year. The hands-on projects encouraged research and teamwork, with end results culminating in student-created projects that enhance their school environment.
The Central Islip High School Class of 2026 conducted its annual tradition of the Senior Walkthrough on Monday morning.

Reed Middle School staff and students proudly showed their support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Many staff members wore special Reed Breast Cancer Awareness shirts, which helped benefit a fundraiser organized by Mrs. Cid.
